Why do we meet? Problem Solving Part 2 of 3 part series

In previous blogs I’ve discussed whether we should meet or not.  If we have decided we need to bring people together for a physical or virtual meeting, we still need to establish the purpose for the meeting.

Problem solving can happen in a number of ways.

  • Idea Generation – One of my favourite reasons to meet.  Bringing people together to come up with new and innovative thinking.
  • Solution Generation – Generally after idea generation we would need to then consider a solution
  • Plan Generation – what are we actually going to do.  Planning next steps

Make sure that we have the right people in the room who can provide us with the right information or knowledge to be able to help solve the problem.

You will also get the best results if you provide people with the problem to be solved at least the night before the meeting.  Allowing people to “sleep on it” is a great way to have them in a better state to generate ideas.
